Why Dallas…

Experience all the city has to offer! Dallas is a richly diverse American city: over the years it has become a melting pot of cultures, religions, and lifestyles. This important convergence of uniqueness and differences is reflected throughout the sights and sounds of the city.

Dallas’ authentic arts, music, food, places of worship, historic landmarks and urban lifestyle all contribute to the city’s makeup.

During the 1950s and 1960s, Dallas became the nation’s third-largest technology center. The Dallas area is home to 21 Fortune 500 companies including Exxon Mobil, JC Penney, AT&T, Texas Instruments, and others.

Night Life

Dallas comes alive after dark! From cocktails in Uptown to live music in Deep Ellum, find your favorite spot in Dallas. Start in the heart of Downtown at Midnight Rambler, a speakeasy-style bar inside The Joule Hotel. From there, jump on the McKinney Avenue Trolley for a free and easy ride to Uptown where the liveliness of McKinney Avenue’s hot spots will pave the way for an exciting night. Get into the Texas spirit at the Trophy Room with a ride on the mechanical bull – the first one that falls off buys drinks!

Preceded by thousands of years of varying cultures, the Caddo people inhabited the Dallas area before Spanish colonists claimed the territory of Texas in the 18th century as a part of the Viceroyalty of New Spain. With the construction of railroads, Dallas became a business and trading center and was booming by the end of the 19th century. It became an industrial city, attracting workers from Texas, the South, and the Midwest.
