Preceded by thousands of years of varying cultures, the Caddo people inhabited the Dallas area before Spanish colonists claimed the territory of Texas in the 18th century as a part of the Viceroyalty of New Spain. With the construction of railroads, Dallas became a business and trading center and was booming by the end of the 19th century. It became an industrial city, attracting workers from Texas, the South, and the Midwest.

Our professors come from diverse backgrounds and have seasoned skill-sets
He has over 10 years of industry experience as a professional software developer. Through the course of his career, he has worked for an IT Services Consulting firm, a tech-startup catering to the needs of non-profit organizations, and has contracted for several other clients in the Chicago area. Outside of work, Joe enjoys camping, cycling, and he frequently participates in a weeknight bowling league.
Joe holds a Bachelors of Science in Computer Science (2005) from Benedictine University in Lisle, IL.
Derek Hawkins is the Python instructor at Coding Temple’s Chicago location and also caught at Coding Temples Washington DC location. Self-taught, he has over 5 years of experience building websites and web apps for major companies across the world.
Outside of class, Derek is always up for being challenged at ping-pong. He likes to think he is the best in the office so stop by and prove him wrong!
