Coding Temple Chicago Campus

Why Chicago ...

Chicago is the third-most populous city in the United States, and, many companies have chosen to operate out of Chicago to gain access to the available labor market, including technology companies such as Groupon, GrubHub, and Orbitz. Over time, this has allowed the City of Chicago to boast the third-highest Metropolitan area GDP in the United States. While demand within specific industry and for specific skills can fluctuate from month-to-month, the large number or businesses in a small geographic area creates a constant demand for skilled labor, particularly for IT Professionals and Software Developers.

Location and Transportation

Coding Temple’s Chicago location is situated in the Pearl Building in the River North neighborhood, and is directly adjacent to Chicago’s Loop, West Loop, and Lincoln Park neighborhoods, where the bulk of businesses are located in downtown Chicago. Situated directly between the Merchandise Mart and Chicago Ave Brown Line CTA stations, it is a 10 minute walk from either one. Additionally, the Grand Ave Blue Line and Grand Ave Red Line CTA stations are a 20 minute walk.Metered street parking is available in front of the office, but it is on a first-come, first-served basis, and due to the high cost, we’d recommend visitors and students utilize an alternate mode of transportation when possible.Coding Temple does not provide housing accommodations for students enrolled in the course but does work with partner companies in the area to help accommodate traveling students

Around the office

The Coding Temple office is open from 9am until 5pm, Monday through Friday. The office provides a relaxed atmosphere for students to learn the material from our skilled instructors, and features two small classrooms, as well as a shared common area. There are typically two classes (Python and .NET) running concurrently, with a maximum of 12 students per class. On a daily basis, each class will typically meet from 9:30am until 3pm, with an hour-long lunch break. Class sessions consist of lectures, pair-programming challenges and individual coding challenges. At the conclusion of the class day, the instructor may provide additional programming challenges for the student to work on outside of class.During lunch and after class hours, students are welcome to use the common area to play ping-pong, challenge their classmates to a board game, or enjoy the complimentary snacks.

Nearby Attractions

The surrounding neighborhood features several dining and entertainment options should students want to explore Chicago. Within a mile of the office, students can visit staff favorites like Portillo’s, Clark Street Ale House, Headquarters Beercade, Taco Joint, and Lou Malnati’s. A little further out: the Museum of Contemporary Art, the Magnificent Mile, and Navy Pier
